This course invites artists of all levels to explore the dynamic world of landscape painting through the unique techniques of mark making and shorthand painting using gouache. Participants will learn to harness the power of expressive brushstrokes and simplified forms to capture the essence of a landscape quickly and effectively.
Throughout the course, students will develop their ability to convey mood, texture, and movement in their landscapes with minimal detail, focusing on the broader visual elements that create atmosphere and depth. Using gouache—a versatile medium known for its vibrant opacity and matte finish—students will discover how to work with both controlled and spontaneous techniques to bring their landscapes to life.
Class will take place once a week February 27th-March 20th 2025 from 11am-2pm PST. All 4 sessions will be recorded for 3 months if you’re not able to attend.
