The Modern Impressionist Magazine Workshop Retreat will be held at the elegant and historic Chateau Alois. Beautifully positioned on the banks of the River Bocq in Belgium. And only 3 kilometers from the gorgeous little town of Ciney and just a short drive from Calais and Brussels. Chateau Alois is comprised of a main castle and two wings surrounded by a courtyard and has a number of large reception rooms and outdoor pavilions for relaxing, dining and enjoying these enormous grounds. This one of a kind experience will be hosted by Modern Impressionist Magazine. You will be able to get to know the members of the magazine and immerse yourself in an inclusive week long painting workshop retreat with two of the world’s top artists and instructors, Jove Wang and Lisa Skelly. Learn the art of light and shadow and and impressionism. You will also have plenty of one on one time with the instructors to improve your skills.
All of the bedrooms are quaint and luxurious and have en-suite bathrooms. Chateau Alois was once home to an important Bishop and dates back to the 12th century. Its ten hectares (25 acres) of grounds incorporate an extensive parks, ponds and a river with many century old trees.
You can enjoy painting its streams, architecture, interior and old growth trees and forests.

About artist Jove Wang Biography
Jove Wang has a passion for impressionism, he was born in Jilin China in 1962. At the tender age of seven, he apprenticed with the master oil painter Gang Gu, subsequently studying at Jilin School of Art for three years and graduating in 1982. He was accepted into the most prestigious art institute of China, Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now known as China Academy of Art), and graduated as an honor student in 1988. In 1990 he immigrated to the United States where he soon met with success. Immersing himself in the art study and exploration of old masters, he has established a career that has garnered him national and international recognition, earning many major awards and featured in many publications

Lisa Skelly Workshop
Lisa Skelly is a soft pastel artist who is deeply inspired by the beauty of nature. Through her paintings, she captures the essence of the natural world, with a particular focus on seascapes, landscapes, waves, skies, and clouds.
Drawing on her lifelong love of nature, her work reects her passion for the outdoors and her deep appreciation for the power and beauty of the natural world. By using soft pastels, she is able to convey the uidity and movement of waves, the depth and texture of landscapes, and the ever-changing drama of the sky.
For Lisa, painting is not just a creative outlet, but a way of connecting with the world around her. Her work is a celebration of the natural beauty that surrounds us, and an invitation to slow down and appreciate the wonders of the world. Picturesque, cultural and historic, Ciney has a colorful range of tranquil woodland, pasture, valleys, small lakes and meandering rivers as well as medieval towns and a strong cultural heritage.
There are many sights to see near the chateau including the caves of Han and La Merveilleuse (Dinant), the Gallo-Roman ruins of Malagne, the ruins of Montaigle (Falaén), Freyr, Lavaux-Sainte-Anne castles, the Gardens of Annevoie and some of 'Les Plus Beaux Villages de Wallonie' (Wallonia's Most Beautiful Villages) such as Celles
The Brussel Airport is about 43 minutes (highway). We will transport you from the airport to the chateau in a private bus. We will also include transportation for 2 painting excursions as well as return service to the airport!
It takes 1 hr 30 by train from the Brussels South Airport via Charleroi, Namur and Ciney..
